🚀 Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Launch the Application

After installation, the app opens with a welcome screen. If you don't see it, check your Start Menu for a tile called "Ghostfolio" or "Ghostfolio-Desktop". Double-click it to get started.

Step 2: Create Your Account

The first time you run the app, you'll be asked to set up a local account. This is completely offline – no email, no phone number needed. Just choose a username and a password. This protects your data locally.

Step 3: Add Your Holdings

Click on the "Create Holding" or "+" button. You'll need to enter basic information like symbol (e.g., AAPL for Apple), asset type (stock, ETF, bond), quantity, and purchase price. The dashboard may auto-fetch current prices for supported assets.

Step 4: Configure Categories & Goals

Organize your holdings into custom groups (e.g., "Retirement", "Speculative", "Dividend"). Set allocation targets to see how your investments align with your goals.

Step 5: Dive into Analytics

Navigate to the "Analytics" or "Dashboard" section. You'll see pie charts showing your asset allocation, line graphs of performance over time, and key metrics like total value, gain/loss, and risk scores.

🛠️ Troubleshooting & Tips

Issue: The app won't start.

Issue: Prices are not updating.

Tip: Enable Auto-Refresh.

In your settings, turn on the "Auto-refresh" or "Live updates" feature to keep prices fetching every few minutes.

Tip: Use Import/Export.

Your data is stored locally on your machine. Use "Export" to save a JSON backup file, and "Import" to restore it – great for backing up
